I had to bring Khia (Hanna's friend) back to Hutchinson and pick up my dogs (who Keri and very graciously been hosting for THREE weeks). Keri suggested that on the way to her house I stop for supper in St. Cloud at Chipotle. Sounded great. Never been. But open to new styles of anything Mexican (or adulterated Mexican).
I walk into the restaurant and am momentarily non-plussed. I don't really know how to order, and I want to get something memorable. A wonderfully nice Latina lady asks me what I'd like to order, and I confess that I'm a Chipotle ignoramous. Never been. Don't know what I'm doing. She very kindly described the items and my choices. I chose. The girls just wanted drinks, because they weren't hungry. I sidestep along, watching my chicken fajita burrito being made, salivating on the way, eventually ending up at the cash register. The wonderful Latina lady, whom I loved already, tells me that she's taking care of my burrito. What? I don't get it. I'm getting it for free. They're allowed to do that sometimes. It encourages you to return, apparently. Now I REALLY love her.
I go into the bathroom. It's nearly closing time, and a girl is scrubbing the bathroom walls!! Not spot wiping, but thoroughly, systematically, wiping down every single surface in the bathroom! I really LOVE this place.
I go back out to the table - there was no way I was attempting to eat that gargantuan thing in the car - and begin trying to nibble without causing the thing to fall apart and spill onto the entire surface of the table. This thing is FANTASTIC! I'm really in love, now. Khia asked if she could taste it. Sure! Plenty for an army. Wow, can she have one? Absolutely! Mine was free, I can afford it. Hanna tasted. Another sale.
Hanna is as in love with this newly-found (to us, obviously) restaurant as I am. If you haven't been there, GO! If you have, GO BACK!
I was SO impressed, I even emailed the company. I hope the Latina lady and the bathroom-wall-scrubber girl get raises.
A full & satisfied customer. When oh when will they put one in Cook?
WElcome. WELCOME! WeeLLLLCOOOOOME to Chipotle. the best place in the world.!!
ReplyDeleteWait until you go back and know to order their amazing freshly made chips and use them to dip into your burrito. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
When they first came to the cities I worked for the food company who supplied them (in customer service). When you would get their customer number, you would say the company name to make sure you had the right number. I couldn't pronounce it at all! "Chippottle?", "Chipolltee?" They would laugh and say, "Yeah, we get that all the time." By the way this was at least 10 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI often feel so middle ages - and I don't mean MY age, I mean in centuries. I am so far behind technilogically, culturally, fashionally, cuisinely. But I do love Cook and simplicity. Just wait and see how behind I get if we move across the world.
ReplyDeleteI mean technologically.
